JOB SUMMARY

1. The Data Analyst position involves the ability to learn a risk adjustment scoring model associated with one of the lines of business (Medicare, Medicaid, or Commercial ACA), along with database structures to do analytical work on behalf of our health plan clients. This position requires analytical skills and the ability to independently research business, technical, and application-related questions posted by our clients.

Collects, cleanses, and automates data flow into a central repository 10%

Analyzes existing data sets to identify patterns, outliers, and areas of inconsistencies through relationships that exist in the data 10%

Builds analytical models for automated data analysis and predictive insights 10%

Creates data visualizations for end users including the use of dashboards (Tableau) or user interfaces (PowerApps or other web-based interface) 20%

Collaborates with business leaders to provide data insights, design strategies, or recommended changes 30%

Demonstrate excellent customer relationship building, interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of stakeholders 20%

ANALYSIS

 This position will use analytical skills and perform independent research to solve business, technical, and application-related questions posed by our clients. The process for solving these problems are defined.

INNOVATION

This position will contribute ideas for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency. It is expected that the position will contribute to the development of an innovation idea and is certainly welcome to offer any of their own.

JUDGEMENT AND DECISION MAKING

This position’s main focus is on being a productive contributor and learning what good and accurate analytic results are. The data analyst will take direction from a manager or more senior resource and complete assignments to the best of their ability. It is not expected that the data analyst be the final decision maker or authority as to the validity and accuracy of the work that they produce.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

BA or BS degree in a quantitative discipline such as Management Information Systems, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Analytics or Computer Science.  Other majors will be considered if candidates have relevant experience or coursework that shows analytical skills. 

RELATED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

• 1-3 years of applicable work experience is desirable, preferably in analytics, data science, business intelligence, or similar field
• Recent college graduates with relevant course work will also be considered
• Must have experience with SQL and at least one programming language
• Strong computer literacy required including working knowledge of relevant software statistic packages and visualization suites

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

• Healthcare background is preferred
• Experience with Python or R, visualization suites- Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau, etc. preferred but not required
• Ability to work with large amounts of data, including checks for integrity, summation, and effective communication (written and verbal) to internal and external constituents
• Experience with Oracle PL/SQL is a plus
